However, the Terva juhlaolut (Tar celebration beer) was really tasty and I have a feeling that Savukataja will be in the same vein. I have to try that.

I tried Nokkospils at Helsinki Beer Festival, and it was a real disappointment.

Oh dear, Boxbeers has an autumn sale to clear some space from the warehouse. Naturally class A beers won't be discounted, but there are lots of interesting quality craft beers to try for fairly cheap prices (with some class A beers too). For example, Thornbridge's Eldon should is a classy imperial stout. Shipping is free after 90€, which I have no problem exceeding.

As a teenager, I always wanted a beer advent calendar, but my parents never bought me one. So, this year, ages later, I finally got one for myself. 24 (partially rare) different beers coming up in December. Smile

Which one did you choose?

This seems to be a picture of the 2016 edition with different brews, but it's the same brand.

I like it that many of the calendars have a couple of brews that are exclusive to the calendar. I'm going with Mikkeller this year. When it comes out.

Oh man, I'd love a subscription from one of these shops, but it'll mkost likely turn out to be too costly for me; plus my wife would certainly proclaim me an alcoholic (which she already does from time to time), as ignorant as that may be. Smile. Still, ordering a calendar might be something worth considering (next year). How much are they (approximately)?

RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Godflesh - 10-24-2017

My two top choices were the Mikkeller calendar and Saveur Biere. I'm betting SB calendar is a little cheaper, but the Mikkeller one has not been announced yet. On the other hand, Mikkeller has just a little more quality, although SB offers more than money's worth too. SB calendar is €69,90 which is very cheap for 24 quality beers and exclusives, but they don't deliver to Finland anymore, so I have no problem choosing the calendar this year. Of course a few beers are a bit lame each year, but most are great. Nobody can offer that many awesome beers for that money.

Thanks! We'll see what happens next year. Smile

Boxbeers has quality too, but the calendar price is almost double the price of SB. I'd pay that too, as I know the quality will be great.
