Angizia - I'm on the edge here. On one hand I can't stand the vocals, on the other I love the music. And to be honest, the vocals somehow fit the music perfectly.
Nothing - Thought it was Jason Walton's Nothing, turns out not. Really liked this one though.

That's so weird... A guy on a music-related Facebook group recommended Képzelt Város recently. Anatolij is fucking awesome.
I'm coming around to DG still. I straight-up enjoyed Exmilitary, their first release. I've since looked at the Bottomless Pit leak and enjoyed what I heard, but haven't been able to finish it for one reason or another. I just listened to The Money Store, their most acclaimed album, and enjoyed it, but I think I like Exmilitary more. Not sure if I dig their stuff enough to buy physical copies of, but I'm happy to say I appreciate them more than I did before.

I'm going to leave this here for you as GIRTH somehow fit with Hella and Orthrelm in my mind, despite all having their own flavour. at least I feel thst way about the first GIRTH album. "Sleeper, Awaken!" is closer to a Cleric type thing and is something everyone needs to hear at least once, some kind of blackened psychedelci prog-grind.

New(ish) Upsilon Acrux, for the weird prog fans. it's kind of soft but a nice bit of brain stimulation.
there are better tracks on the album but I guess this one is nice and short.

Right now listening to the latest album by friend's band, Hanging Garden, and thought that maybe I should post about it here, since I honestly think they are really great and deserve much more recognition. They've started out as kind of a basic melodic doom/death band, but nowadays, after several lineup changes, they've started to find their own sound, infusing elements of for example post-rock, progressive rock and gothic music to their expression. I'll link some of my favorites from them.

^ Saw them live opening for some other band (can't for the life of me remember who) not too long ago. Immediately bought the LP after the show. They really have their own style going, and are one of the very few bands that I would compare to Kauan.

I bet it was Swallow the Sun? HG was a warm-up band for their Finnish leg of the tour.

Girth a really good, although sleeper, awaken! is far too short. Although it didn't need to be an opus, the short listen leaves you really wanting. Cleric are phenomenal too. I like how you frame Ov as a test. Really good way to introduce it to others. Set a challenge with them... "you think you can handle this? Prove it".

I think 'Sleeper, Awaken!' definitely feels complete in itself but also definitely leaves room for want, and the last GIRTH was cool in its way but falling far short of the previous brilliance. following th style of the former could have created something great! the drummer is pretty special but I've not found interest in his later projects, aside from some youtube recordings of tabla transpositions and some nice Persian music. and indeed, OV is only for the intepid listener!

Cleric rules! They don't get the respect or recognition they deserve sadly. The same goes for Behold...the Arctopus.
OV is ok but with Mick Barr I always preferred Ocrilim. Annwn is an incredibly diverse album which is still a huge challenge to listen to but I found it more rewarding a listen then OV.
