What strikes me is this; Both Marvel and DC (well, Warner Bros) have now shown that they know how to make films that have all the tension, drama, emotion you expect from a superhero franchise. The difference is, Marvel also know how to pace it and make it FUN.

Can't fault the acting, Affleck is fantastic as an older, more cynical and less forgiving Bruce Wayne. And can't really fault the last 30 mins, where DC finally get their act together and salvage some thrills and enjoyment for the audience, which bodes well for both the forthcoming Wonder Woman and Justice League movies. Overall though, this really was a laborious two-and-a-half hours that I'd struggle to sit through in its entirety again.

I can see your excitement for the 3 hour R-rated cut already

ANYTHING is better than that piece of shit abomination. I hope the ghost of Patrick Swayze haunts everyone associated with that crap.

3hr cut of BvS might be okay. Longer cuts of films sometimes make them better ("Kingdom Of Heaven" is one example) by explaining more. On the other hand, it might just be an extra 30 mins of Superman being dull.

Some remakes are so ridiculous. I recently saw the remake total recall after re-watching the original. I felt the remake was so devoid of the charms of the first one. It basically felt like a generic action movie that happened to be in a dystopian future, compared to what I see in the original as a landmark sci-fi film nicely realising Phillip K Dick's vision. The thing is I can't quite put my finger on it why they are so different. What made the original total recall so good and this one to be limp. Is it simply my nostalgia or something more? I get the same thing with original Conan the Barbarian (still one of my favs by the way) and the remake. What do other people think?

remakers try to make it their own vision, which in turn makes it a whole different film. If you havent seen the original and watch the remake you go in unbiased and may take it differently. I am a remake hater myself, specially because I love movies like Wicker Man, Evil Dead, Let the right one in, I spit on your grave and they all had horrible remakes.

Good point about remakers shifting the vision to their own, I definitely agree that is a factor. I am not really a fan of remakes either. I feel they are more often about tapping into a cash cow more than anything.

I saw Green Room yesterday. That was a great film. Incredibly tense, brutal and terrifying, it was an excellent break from the monotony of a lot of movies being released now which seem to play it all by the rule book. I think the most terrifying thing about Green Room was how real the consequences of being the the wrong place at the wrong time can end up being.

For anyone who is a fan of Blue Ruin or Quentin Tarantino's material I highly recommend Green Room.

Watched Mr. Nobody the other day. Great film, but one where it's more about the journey than the destination. Jared Leto does a fantastic job.

Zoolander 2... not as shit as Anchorman 2.

Seriously, it was never gonna be as good as the first one, but it's pretty funny in its own right. There's a horrible 15min segment at the beginning of the third act where they try and cram in loads of recycled jokes from the original, but on the whole it's a generally enjoyable film.
