I am a remake hater myself, specially because I love movies like Wicker Man, Evil Dead, Let the right one in, I spit on your grave and they all had horrible remakes.
Good point about remakers shifting the vision to their own, I definitely agree that is a factor. I am not really a fan of remakes either. I feel they are more often about tapping into a cash cow more than anything.
