Saw Pillorian, Monarch and Birushanah at a small venue in my town last night. Not an easy task, since we're literally metlting away in a long-term heatwave right now and the temperatures inside were close to being unbearable, but it was totally worth it. I had seen Pillorian and Monarch before; they were as good as expected, even though Monarch had some technical issues during the show and the Pillorian guys were a bit disappointed that they played for a "crowd" of maybe 30 people. Birushanah were a bit of a surprise; a japanese band consisting of a guitarist/vocalist, a drummer and a percussionist. Nice and intense music, tho.

Fucking Christmas is getting in the way of me seeing Rivers Of Nihil in the UK. Hopefully they'll come back next year.

Booo. I would have finally seen The Obsessed next month at BlowUp Vol. 5 but they cancelled. Dammit.
The replacement is Bölzer. I'm quite interested in seeing them live. Especially how Entranced by the Wolfshook works at a live setting.

Saw Rivers Of Nihil and Black Crown Initiate in Bristol last night. Incredible stuff from both bands.

BCI seemed like they were still breaking in the new guitarist and drummer, a couple of nervous glances onstage. Whilst the musical execution was flawless, maybe a little more is work needed on being comfortable with one another.

RoN though... they're on another level as a live entity. Breathtaking. They definitely a bigger stage.

Tomorrow Amon Amarth / Arch Enemy / Hypocrisy show and next sunday the last gig of Children Of Bodom (current lineup at least).

Numenorean was great. Spent too much money on merch afterwards. Glad that I already own all the vinyl they sold there.
Gaerea was decent music-wise, but I don't get their act. Pitch-black apperance and then animating the crowd to cheer along was something I wasn't ready for, I guess. ;-)
