Some people should really consider RIO if you're anywhere near France and like a big mix of musical excellence. This year is not so appealing to me as last year (Pryapisme, Secret Chiefs 3, Present, Art Zoyd, Mats/Morgan, Reve General etc being a rather spectacular mix) but even with the stuff I haven't heard I trust the festival to have great surprises. Magma and Upsilon Acrux were enough to lure me, plus some ensembles with members of Henry Cow, a great French jazz thing called Jean-Louis, a Japanese band with Yoshida Tatsuya playing a big mix of world music...

Currently skipping Tuska. There were a couple acts I wanted to see only - Ghost and Swallow the Sun. Nervosa coulda been cool too. I didn't see anything else that inspired me though, and I don't like to pull that "I'm industry" card to try to get freebies, so I'll sit it out cause 70 EUR per day is too rich.

Saw Ufomammut, Doomina and some other great bands in their vein this weekend on the Dome of Rock festival in Salzburg

Dance with the Dead announced an Antwerp show in September, so I guess that'll be the first synthwave gig I'll attend. Looking forward to that a lot. Too bad it clashes with Incubate as well as Baroeg Open Air. Carpenter Brut is playing Brussels later this year too, so I'll be going to that unless there'll be a show closer to me.

There was a really great event held at Lepakkomies, Helsinki yesterday and day before that. The lineup was great, consisting of mainly death metal, but also some punk and doom acts. Nearly every band threw really great gigs, with Lie in Ruins, Caskets Open and Axeslaughter being the best acts.

In the Woods... will be playing live for the first time in Finland in December. This seems like an event to attend to, especially with such a reasonable price (21€). https://www.facebook.com/events/1236086499734975/

Well, Triptykon's doing a couple of gigs before their Wacken show in western and south-western Germany... The one in Essen I'd really like to attend, 'cause they're playing with Valborg. Two of my absolute favorites playing the same gig. The trip would be pretty costly though... :/

I am torn, tomorrow Inter Arma plays right next door to Marissa Nadler / Wreckmeister Harmonies / Muscle & Marrow. I've seen Inter Arma before so I think I'll go see Marissa instead.

Yeah, would've been really nice to see that tour here, too :/ But these great tour lineups always seem to evade Finland!
