Had a little bit of downtime on Sunday to catch up on movies courtesy of Kodi and the Exodus add-on. :-p

"Ghostbusters" - I really don't see what everyone's problem with this is. Sure, it was never gonna be the absolute CLASSIC that the original was, but it was a lot more silly and fun than I expected it to be. Probably a lot more over-reliant on CG effects than it could have been, and the "bad guy" was a bit lame, but this was still fun.

"Suicide Squad" - Eek, Warner manage to squander another opportunity in the DC universe. Obviously a reaction to Marvels "GOTG", unfortunately they try to introduce an entire ensemble cast into an already populated universe without giving enough relevance to these new chatacters. Taken as a standalone film though; yeah, fairly entertaining. Jared Letos portrayal of The Joker is superfluous to events here; he's not really threatening or unpredictable like his predecessors (Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson), I just thought he was a bit of a cunt. There's also a wasted opportunity to explore more of how Harley Quinn became so enamoured with him, and the whole cycle of abuse leading to Stockholm Syndrome. Margot Robbie played both aspects of the character so well, and that whole backstory would make a great movie on it's own... and might even give The Joker more of a sinister portrayal than this. Overall, a fun but very disjointed film. It jumps around too much and leaves the viewer wondering what the fuck happened.

I've been avoiding the new Ghostbusters, is this a seal of approval that I should actually try it? Spoiler: I'm not actually that big a fan of the original, it's okay. But I am curious to know why this one was slammed so hard.

Ghostbusters' new female Egon makes it worthwhile. It is goofy, the villain is lame. Those girls sure are fun. I'd give it a 7/10.

Suicide Squad is a 5/10, entertaining but yeah, Doogz nailed it.

Saw Shin-Godzilla last night, that monster is creepy and amazing at the same time, but the movie is like 70% process/bureaucracy/scientists arguing how to fight the monster and 30% the Kaiju itself. Entertaining, might need to watch again but early in the morning so I don't feel sleepy and decide if I loved it or hated it.

Uhhhhh. Put it on my Watchlist straight away, even though there is already one flaw in it (called Daniel Brühl. I so hate that guy!).

Just watched Dr. Strange, visually impressive, plus the story was good, but I felt they tried to be funny and goofy like in all other stupid marvel movies and it felt really out of place. If you ignore those one-liners, it's a pretty cool movie that begs to be seen on a big screen and 3D.

Watched the new Independence Day film. It's kinda dumb and unneccessary, but there's loads of clever and relevant tie-ins with the original film. It's a lot more ambitious than you'd expect, unfortunately it still feels like a rehash. Fun though.

still waiting for it to be available on amazon prime to finally watch that. I know I will enjoy it for what it is and did not expect anything better than what you're describing, although I was expecting Will Smith to be there too, stupid Suicide Squad.

I watched "American Sniper" last week. Actually expected more, this being a Clint Eastwood movie. Maybe he clung closely to Kyle's autobiography, but it didn't do that much for me.
