Would there be an interest for a topic like this? I obviously have selfish reasons for creating this, but I'm also genuinely really interested to hear and see, what kind of endeavors the users of this forum take part in. So, no matter if you create music, comic books, short stories/novels, paintings or whatever, post your art here. I'll definitely look into them!

I just started a therapy project with a friend of mine. It's just bedroom guitars and plugin drums, so nothing too serious. I play the guitars and bass, my friend handles the vocal department and drum programming. We did a cover of CMX's Ruoste as our first output: https://soundcloud.com/halo-kuoleman/hal...man-ruoste You can find our Facebook page here, if you're interested: https://www.facebook.com/Halo-Kuoleman-294217150973670/

I'm also in this black/death metal band, called Loputon Suo. We have only recorded one demo, which is kind of lo-fi: https://loputonsuo.bandcamp.com/releases Some really liked the raw soundscape of our debut, some didn't understand it at all. Nevertheless, we stand by it. We're currently in a writing mode, trying to piece together material for a future EP, which we'll probably try to record with a bit better production. Our Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/loputon.suo/

Edit: Fixed a few brainfarts. No, I most definitely do not play drums. What the hell, brains?

Thought it'd be interesting to share our end-of-the-year lists (or whatever) here. Have had a thread of this kind on another forum so I'm pretty sure it'll work here, too.
Won't force any forms on you, the list can be in order from best to worst, alphabetical, different categories (metal, non-metal, synth, Blood Music releases...), or not a list at all (though I'm not really sure what that would be). I know there's still releases to come this year and whatnot. Just thought I'd start the thread early on, if not else, to see if I've missed something that needs to be checked out.

I'm yet to form my own list, for that'll take a good while to do.
Also kill me please if there's something wrong with this kind of thread.

I recently tasted, for the first time in my life, Synthbread. It is an incredible mixture of 1980's style bread soundtracks mixed with a more modern crust structure. Apparently France is a hot spot for this artisanal (haha, anal) genre of carbohydrate with individuals such as Breadturbator and Croissant Brut taking the main oven in the world of Synthbread.

I highly recommend it if you haven't tried it, it's delicious. It tastes a bit like digital laser cubes if it were possible to eat them. If you ever get the chance to try this synthbread make sure to let everyone you are friends with, or just anyone in general, know how tasty it is. SYNTHBREAD FOR LIFE!

I was gonna post this under "Off Topic Madness", but figured that discussion of cover art should blossom into a thread of its own.

I've been listening to that Numenorean album again tonight. It's pretty good, though maybe not quite as good as all the hype makes out though.
https://numenorean.bandcamp.com/album/home

HOWEVER: That album cover. I'm all for freedom of expression, but having mulled over it for a week or so now, I've concluded that I'm definitely not okay with that cover.

Whilst a lot of bands I've listened to over the years have had borderline offensive and controversial cover art, most of it is quite cartoony in nature. In fact, the only other cover art that ever genuinely made me uncomfortable was Anorexia Nervosas "New Obscurantis Order" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Obscur..._order.jpg) because of its paedophillic undertones. I discussed this with Nicholas after a show in London, and he explained that the cover is meant to depict a witch presenting her daughter as the next generation of her coven, and nothing sinister was intended. I had misinterpreted the art, that's all.

There's no such ambiguity with Numenoreans "Home".

In case you're not aware, it's not a digital mock-up, it's not posed. It's a genuine crime scene photo from a murder at Fort Bragg in 1970.

The band make excuses such as that the picture complements the music, and that art should be dangerous (you can read the interview with Decibel here: http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2016/5/1...lbum-cover), however, I call bullshit. They've exploited a dead child in order to drum up some publicity. Which is a shame, because the music is very good in its own right.

The girl in the picture was called Kimberly MacDonald. She was two years old, and whilst she lay asleep in her bed she was stabbed 33 times with a knife and 15 times with an ice pick. Her father, Jeffrey MacDonald, also murdered Kimberlys five year old sister and pregnant mother. There's a very thorough article about the whole event and subsequent conviction linked below. Be warned, there are a lot of crime scene photos, though the more graphic ones require another click to reveal.

How does your collection look like? What kind of storage/shelf system do you use?

I am using a birchwood shelf bought from Ikea around 11 years ago. I just needed to add wooden middle pieces myself to create smaller sections on it.

I keep my 7" on cardboard boxes on top of the shelf. 10" are leaning next to them.

And as you can see I am running soon out of space...

For anyone who doesn't know what grapes are they look like this:

Personally I don't understand the appeal. Concord grapes taste good but it is like eating a booger with seeds in it. Red and green grapes are better as wine. Champagne grapes are pretty dank but still not something I ever crave. Ultimately I think we can all agree that grapes would be better if they tasted more like beer. Or if they just auto fermented in to tiny wine sacks. That is a million dollar idea right there.

Sure there must be fans of this abominational phenomenon of a genre here, too. Have been looking into the ol' vapey myself recently only to find myself being kinda picky. Some atmospheric, mellow stuff I like very much, whereas some more experimental stuff mostly doesn't quite do anything to me.

Some personal favourites are
2814: https://dreamcatalogue.bandcamp.com/album/--18
Cocainejesus: https://dreamcatalogue.bandcamp.com/albu...-about-you

Also realised that Nanocyborg Uberholocaust kinda could be seen as a sort of a pioneer of the genre: http://nanocyborg.net/?ckattempt=1

Also as a random addition, I once did some eperimental recordings myself, trying to figure out how to record and produce music through trial and error. None of it is any good but why I mention it is because I vapourified a track from yore, just for the lulz. Don't really recommend checking this out but whatever. For our collective amusement only: http://birchcastlelaboratories.bandcamp.com/

More genres? More genres.

From the "Post What You're Listening To" thread, I know at least J can contribute to this thread.

Discuss rap, hip-hop, and related.

As for me:
I'm really hoping clipping. release an album this year. I loved their sophomore, CLPPNG.

I can say the exact same thing about Run The Jewels, of course.

(Somewhat) Recently released albums I've been digging are:
milo - so the flies don't come
Very chilled out, conscious, philosophic. The production is just weird sometimes. Produced by Kenny Segal.

Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered
Just... Really good hip hop with some soul, jazz, etc.

Oddisee - The Good Fight
Self-produced, and just a really good, diverse album, but still pretty laid-back in general.

Ceschi - Broken Bone Ballads
Not entirely hip hop. This album has tracks that are entirely folk-y rock, tracks that are just rap, and tracks that have elements of both.

One rapper I like a lot who goes by Open Mike Eagle released an album recently I've yet to check out.

Since an unexpected trend with the new Public Forum is to launch dedicated genre threads, I figured I might as well open the floodgates here in case anyone else has a secret love for well made pop music but is too afraid to bring it up.

My top 3 pop albums are:

Paramore - Paramore (won album of the year for me in 2013)
Marianas Trench - Masterpiece Theatre (tasty vocal harmonies aplenty with a finale track that nicely covers the whole album preceding it)
The Beatles - Abbey Road (an eternal classic)

And I'll kick it off with an honourable mention for a personal favourite artist of mine who had a big impact on my first album, Lights.

Has been popular on other forums as well, so I thought I'd try it out here too. Didn't really know where to post it so feel free to move. Anyway, point is for all the beer enthusiasts to share your favourite beers here or whatever.

I'll start with my two personal favourites.

Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier
Dating back to the medieval times, it's definitely the best one I've tasted. Their brewery or something in Bamberg is apparently a Unesco world heritage site so that's something, I guess. If you want more recommendations, I reckon the Rauchbier is also a favourite of some guys in Agalloch and Moonsorrow. So, metal as fvkk.

La Trappe Dubbel
The only variant I've managed to find in Finland, it's fking amazing.
